TUN MAHATHIR WILL NEVER GET OFF THE RADAR SCREEN

Soon after the DPM's announcement on the PPSMI issue, Tun Mahathir is so quick to give his comments. He is not happy at all and blamed the PM. He is not happy because he is the man who started this policy. He did it on his own, never consult the educationists because he thinks he is not only better than anybody else in this country but he also believes that he is always right all the time. Hence he just cannot stand anything that goes against what he had done. This time he made a mistake. The government acknowledged that and so are the others that matter most

But the above is a moot point. What is more important is that he is in the limelight all the time even more than the PM or the DPM. Why does the Government give so much face, we fail to understand. We dont understand why the DPM has to brief him on this PPSMI issue. He is no longer in the government, unless of course the whole Cabinet is subservient to him which we believe is not. Or is he contemplating of becoming a Minister Mentor like Lee Kuan Yew?

The Tun will continue attacking the Government. This is his STRATEGY and his best line of Defence. He had also said members in the UMNO MKT are corrupt and indirectly saying that the government too is corrupt and again not doing enough to fight corruption

Yes this country since Tun Mahathir became PM had been plagued by corruption NOT BEFORE HIM and we seem helpless to resolve it effectively, with so many obstacles along the way. Sometimes we really wonder who really the pepetrators are because we seem to get into a "vicious circle" everytime we want to pin down corruption especially at high places or involving high profile personalities.

I happen to ask an old government servant who used to serve during the colonial days, how he thinks the government should go about reducing or eliminating corruption in this country given the state we are now. He is also blank BUT he did suggest one thing though which we all should ponder and think seriously. And we believe more so for the powers that be. According to him, based on what he saw happening in Indonesia, we should follow their action whereby they really went all out right to the top to investigate even up to the level of President Suharto. And they succeded. When I asked why, he said as soon as this happened in Indonesia, everyone becomes free and daring to go all out to tell all or to spill the beans. Before they dared not for fear of victimisation especially their safety. But that exists no more when the top man in the country is nabbed. But most important according to him is that it sent out an EFFECTIVE SIGNAL to the Indonesian people that government there means business when it come to corruption. Oh yes I forgot one thing. They also changed the Government.
