Dulu Azlina menjadi Menteri.

THE RESURRECTION OF ISA -WHAT IT MEANS
This is not about the "Resurrection of Nabi Isa (Jesus) who will come down to this earth to kill DAJJAL as one of the big signs (tanda tanda besar) of the coming of Doomsday (Kiamat). This is about Tan Sri Isa Samad, the ex MB of N.S and ex Minister of Federal Territory and ex UMNO Vice President, who for all intent and purposes is already "politically dead" but resurrected recently. And he is coming out with a vangeance. His first priority before the present election is to get the Putri UMNO secretary Bibi to be his life companion after being a bachelor for so long. Not many can stand that long. His first hurdle is to strike a deal with the husband, how much to pay him which is the least problem for him. To him any amount to use the PDRM slogan "bolih selesai". So he must create a win win situation for both sides. According to reliable source this lady (Bibi) has a lot of problems, possibly financial. And this is where Isa can lay his trap. In any case it take two to tango and she too may be too willing to become the victim of the trap to make it a good "coincidence"
Next is to win the by election. If he wins he is going for real BIG in the political arena. Just imagine if he was not caught for "money politics" he would be No THREE in line to be the next Prime Minister!!now Imagine that. So if he does win this round, woe betide. His TARGET will be to become PM and nothing less than that. He has the charisma of Ghaffar Baba, get along very well with the common people, vast Financial Resources and politically astute. If not careful Hishammudin ,Zahid Hamidi and Shafie Abdal can be played out by him. His old kaki's (politicians, at the State level need to be resurrected as well, though some of them may be quite old and are no longer in the main political stream. That may be his initial set back. But he can always create new teams for him
So just remember ISA now being Resurrected

CAN WE FIGHT AND REDUCE CORRUPTION
People's perception on CORRUPTION is just like road accidents or robbery. You will not become conscious of its disastrous effect unless and until you are affected by it like when you yourself got robbed or you met with an accident or your relative. That is why people don't care much about corruption happening in our society, let alone helping to curb it. But you are wrong if you think you as a citizen or consumer is NOT AFFECTED by corruption. You are.
We could have saved millions of ringgit our own money if we dont have to pay bribes to government officials, illegitimate commissions to agents, corrupt money upfront to secure contracts etc. and all forms of "grease money" the costs of goods and services ,like tolls water and electricity will certainly come down and that is good for everybody.Corruption is so rampant in this country since two decades past that, some estimates have been made by international agency that corruption had cost Malaysia US 40 billion a year! Why do we find it so difficult to fight corruption. Why are government efforts to fight or reduce it have not been effective?.After years of private research work undertaken by various experts in this area, these are their findings which we put them in very simplistic terms so that people can understand and digest their siginificance
.
First and formost the Government is perceived by the people as corrupt because our law makers are corrupt. These include Ministers, MP's ADUNs and exco members under the BN
. Second the implementation of our our Anti Corruption measure is not effective in curbing corruption because the IMPLEMENTERS themselves are also corrupt. Here it refers to the Police and our Judges
. Third corruption in this country started from the TOP and from there goes down to the ground, like the famous Chinese proverb "when a fish rots it starts from the head and from there spreads to other parts of the body".This is precisely what had happened in this country over the last two decades with respect to corruption. And the effect is not only CANCEROUS but fatal. Thus when a Minister is corrupt, the Heads of Departments and the Secretary General below him will also become corrupt. The logic is simple. If my boss can do it (become corrupt) why cant I. Why not I make hay while the sun shines, after all opportunity knocks at the door but once!! . When this culture became pervasive,as what had already happened, then HELL is let loose through the Executive,Administrative and Judiciary systems of the country
. Fourth, this is why Malaysia's rating on Corruption has deteriorated so much over the years that we are now included together with the worse African States with respect to corruption. We are nowhere near Singapore our immediate neighbour.Very shameful indeed when we claim we are an Islamic country or at least the majority of its citizens are Muslims.
Fifth, we cannot eradicate this culture because it had benefited so many people, politicians, civil servants, businessmen especially those close to the Corridors of Power and all their cronies. They cannot change their life styles and they will defend the status quo at all costs,to remain in their "comfort zones" and will defend that to the last drop of their blood if need be to retain political power. No laws can ever change the situation not even another MACC. Whatever action taken is nothing but an eye wash or a shadow play. They are all pillatives, because there is no political will to take action especially against the rich , the influential and the powerful. In short the system is beyond repair and if nothing is done will get WORSE.
The Study concluded that the only way to deal with this cancerous disease is to have a NEW GOVERNMENT, although we cannot be totally sure it can do the job. But the Rakyat had been waiting for a long time for REAL CHANGES but they never came. So they are prepared to give the Barisan Alternative a chance BECAUSE whatever happens under it cannot get any worse than where we are now. The new Government has to dismantle the system and uncover all the corruptions past and present and haul those responsible before the law from the highest to the lowest ranking individuals regardless of race creed and colour. if they are found or perceived to be corrupt
. There will a period of uncertainty and even apprehension when the PENDORA boxes are opened. This is expected when there is a change of Government. But we know given reasonable time, once everything is out in the open and the Rakyat see for themselves what had been going on all these years , THINGS will slowly settle down and put in their proper place with a new CLEANSED system whereby Transparency, Integrity and Accountability will become the new foundation.for our nation to move ahead.
This is the time for CHANGE. Think about it

WHY IS THE MACC UNDER ATTACK NOW??
At first people had high hopes on the newly minted MACC (formerly ACA) -given their additional powers etc.to fight CORRUPTION. But before it can make any impact, the MACC is already under seige. Not only by the Opposition which we all can fully understand but also by the ordinary man on the street! Why? These are the reasons.
First, MACC like its predicessor goes after the ikan bilis or corruption cases involving MR 2,500 up to MR 50, ooo at most. e.g the PKR exco members in Selangor. Even the DG of Immigration is an ikan bilis case. MR 60, 000 only. WHEREAS Corruption involving hundreds of million ringgit had been going on in the Immigration for a long time. Why MACC doesnt go after previoous DGs'?? Their pockets were full and their bank accounts under nominees or overseas are fat. Difficult to get evidence is it? BULL SHIT Or they are prevented or just CLOSING ONE EYE as they say
. Second, they go only after Opposition more seriously than Government, the latter they will try to delay as long as possible. But for the opposition they took action YESTERDAY
. Third they do not set any PRIORITY on their investigation work. After all they have limited resources (money and manpower). They must prioritise their tasks FOCUSSING on the SHARKS than the IKAN BILIS. This will have the greatest IMPACT to their reputation
Fourth, they are not PROACTIVE. They only act after formal reports are made. This is most stupid and most ineffective. Go after those WHO LIVE BEYOND THEIR MEANS, THOSE WHO HAD ACCUMULATED ASSETS BEYOND THEIR DECLARED SOURCES OF INCOME. Dont tell us you cannot IDENTIFY who they are ? especially RETIRED GOVERNMENT SERVANTS! those previously in the Ministry of Internationa;l Trade and Industry, The Customs, the Immigration The JPJ. These Departments are GOLDMINES for the CORRUPT. Remember the Chinese proverb, when the fish gets rotten it ALWAYS STARTS FROM THE HEAD and from there spread to the rest of the body. Our advice to the MACC staff just go and put your ears on the ground and do a bit of MOOCHING around a bit, in otherwords be PROACTIVE. I bet you get a lot of INFO and STORIES which can become the basis for your investigation. You should also try those inside, the INSIDERS, as they say especially thos who are real honest but can see things happening infront of their eyes but SCARED to do anything lest their RICEBOWLS will be broken!! There are many HONEST people there. Only the few bad hats that spoil the organisation
Fifth, they appear to be "SELECTIVE" in their investigations when it comes to high profile personalities, like senior politicians, high ranking corporate executives and high ranking public servants. In this regard we must remember thos senior government servants at the Secretary General or the Director General, they are very pally with not only the tiop people at the MACC but also the Attorney General and his senior staff and to some extent some of the judges even. So you can draw your conclusion why so "" to make a case against any of them in that category. You scratch my back and I scratch Yours is their Motto.
Can we blame the MACC entirely for the above? Not entirely. We must remember the MACC is a Government agency, its staff paid by the government. Their "Tuan" or Boss is the government in power. They can try to be "professional" as we believe many of its staff are, but at the end of the day the piper that pays will call the tune. To think that the Head of the MACC or the no 2 or 3 are not under the inflence of the Government is WISHFUL THINKING. So you can conclude to WHAT EXRENT they can be totally independent. But we dont blame. But if they STICK to their PRINCIPLES they should not bow to political pressure or influence irrespectice from which side of the political divide they come from

WHO DECIDES A CASE IS CORRUPT BEFORE AND AFTER IT GOES TO COURT/
In my last blog I highlighted why one man's meat can be another man's poison. The Kasitah Gadam corruption case is another classic example of this phenomena. He was a Minister in Tun Mahathir's Cabinet and was accused of corruption on some share dealings during his time. But according Tun Mahathir, Kasitah was not corrupt and that is why no action was taken on him . He said this in his statement to the press following the verdict given by the Court on this case recently. Kasitah was charged during the previous administration. And the trial went for years before coming with the verdict.
The obvious question to ask is why is the action to prosecute Kasitah taken only during the previous administration or alternatively why do the two administrations see or view this case so diametrically opposed to one another? After all both are BN led governments. Why the double standard? Are we saying that corruption like "beauty" depends on the eyes of the beholder? Or whether a case is classified as "corruption" or otherwise depends on the person who has the last say!!. If this is the rule of the game then power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In this case we will be doomed in no time
How can we change the public perception that the government is not "corrupt" when they see the absence of transparency and glaring double standard being practised. Of course one can say , yes we bring the alleged wrongdoer to court but the latter found him innocent. To me the "procedural issue" is not important. But what is important and should be questioned by every one is why the double standard used by the same government! When confronted by such a case involving high profile individuals and millions of ringgit, procedure or form is not important simply because wrong things can be done for the right reasons!!
Nevertheless we shared Tan Sri Kasitah's happiness for being acquitted after bearing all the trials and tribulations during these years, but can now put all behind him. He said he is going to perform the UMRAH after this, Alhamdullillah
As a reminder to all of us as Muslims, we can hide our wrong doings in this world and even escape punishment from the "Human" Courts because we have lawyers and witnessess to help us. BUT NOT in the Court of the Almighy in the world hereafter, because there you have no lawyer to fight for you or witnesses to help you. Your lawyer is your tongue and your witnesses will be your eyes, ears, hands and the rest of your body. You cannot hide any fact or evidence or use any alibi because every part of your body will tell the truth and nothing but the truth. And you cannot say anymore "So Help me God" as you would swear in the witness box
I leave these thoughts for the coming of the holy month of Ramdhan!!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
So much had been said and written on the death of Teo Beng Hock. The key question to be asked is WHO is really interested in finding out the truth on the cause of his death? The truth is only Teo's's family. They have lost their beloved son and no one can ever know or fathom their sufferings except they themselves. And they want whoever was responsible be punished
The rest is immaterial. The DAP has its own agenda and so is the MCA . As for the government it has to do the needful. The fact is the real truth if at all can be uncovered might become abitter pill to swallow for which no one is prepared to face. If any party is implicated like a political party for example, that party is doomed be it the DAP, the MCA, Gerakan or UMNO. But among these parties DAP and MCA appear to be competing to take the centre stage to become the champion for the late Teo Beng Hock. The STAKES must be very high
With modern technology and sophistication in investigative techniques, the truth can be established with relative ease. In fact the truth can also be tailored to meet certain objective, by doing the wrong thing for the right reason. THIS is the DILEMMA we are facing to day. One man's meat is another man's poison. Yes we want the truth but the truth hurts and it may hurt many people. We know that A is corrupt and we can go all out to prove that A is corrupt. But we wont because the bottomline is too much a risk to bear. This is what in fact has been going on in this country. High profile cases, be it murder, corruption or whatever where the stakes are high and where it connects so many people THAT MATTER, THEY ALL usually end up in much ado about nothing
Do you want to bet that the Royal Commission will come with anything DECISIVE? An international private investigator once wrote in his book that for politically complicated or high profile cases and to a certain extent Judicial cases, the modus operandi of investigation or prosecution as the case may be is NOT to start from the beginning but to DECIDE first and formost what should be the OUTCOME. In short the FINAL outcome that we want. We here can refer to the power that be or Mr X or Organisation Y. that will finally CALL THE SHOT. Having done that, you mobilise and put all your resources in place to work and every step of the investigation or process must be MONITORED to ENSURE that they all JIVE together towards the ULTIMATE OUTCOME. If for some reason that there is possibility of slippage or deviation along the way that can threaten and DERAIL the final outcome, then the parameters must be changed and the actors must take action immediately. Use whatever means because the ends justify the means. And so the process goes till the end when in fact it is already known.
Just think and ponder on this!!

TUN MAHATHIR WAS CALLED "CROOK"
Many must have read the New Straits Time early this week when Minister in the Prime Ministers Department Dato' Seri Nazri Aziz called Tun Mahathir, the ex IGP Tun Hanif and the ex AG Tan Sri Talib Osman "crooks". To be fair, amongst the three, the most deserving to be called crook is Tun Mahathir. In fact he had been called a "Firaun" which is even more degrading when he was Prime Minister. If everyone can recall the http//members.tripod.com/~mahazalimtwo that ran for years in the internet calling him Firaun or Mahazalim interchangeably. The non Malays may not be that familiar with Firaun which is the Pharoah during ancient Egypt. Remember the film the Ten Commandments. There the Pharoah played by Yul Brynner was not only a dictator par excellence but also annointed himself as God. And we knew his fate. He met with a tragic death on the seabed of the Red sea whilst he and his chariots were in pursuit of Moses and his people crossing the Red sea to escape from the Pharoah's tyranny.
As for the ex AG Tan Sri Abu Talib Osman, he probably deserved it given his important role in the dismissal of Tun Salleh Abbas the former Chief Justice, as a consequence of which our judiciary 's reputation and hence public confidence towards it went down the drain and has not fully recovered until this day. Of course as a civil servant he must have been directed by his superior. To add salt to injury! we have the Lingam Tape debacle on the judiciary
As for the Ex IGP, Tun Hanif, he does not deserve to be called a crook. Although I must say that it is not usual for an ex Head of the Police to become the Chairman of a "Gambling" company. I dont think this happened anywhere in the world!
You may not realise that the process of Karma or as the Muslims believe in the power on the Will of God, many of the wrongdoings committed by our leaders in the past, whether politicians or otherwise are slowly coming out in the open no matter how much they tried to hide them from the public. Every day we see one episode after another being exposed through the Will of the Almighty like the recent collapse of the stadium in Trenggannu and before that the Klang Free Trade Zone project. And what is next? Whatever it is it will come out sooner or later.
And the Rakyat want those responsible to be PUNISHED. And if the Government still dilly dally and take no action, more troubles will brew because God is Great and the Rakyat had been suffering in silence for a long time because of CORRUPTION, NEPOTISM and CRONYSIM and they also prayed day and night for FAIRNESS, TRANSPARENCY and HONESTY to prevail in the country so that everyone irrespective of race and religion will have an even playing field to earn their living.
If they are driven to the wall and their patience taxed to the maximum limit they may just exercise their last weapon against the Government, which is the "BALLOT BOX"
And for UMNO here is a lesson. As long as UMNO continues to align itself with Tun Mahathir or look upon him as its "saviour" this will be the beginning of UMNO's demise. In the Bukit Gantang by election, one voter came out openly that he wanted to vote for BN but because Mahathir went there to campaign he gave his vote to Pakatan Rakyat. Again in the Manik Urai election, UMNO must be very careful who they choose as their candidate s as not to choose the wrong one. In this case BN the candidate in his interview with the press after the election in response to the question who is his most admired leader- he replied Tun Mahathir. That sort of reply can only come from a moron or someone who is very "taksub" to a personality cult. In such circumstances and forum, he should never convey his "personal" feelings. After all he is put there by UMNO as a candidate and hence whatever he says must reflect the party's platform and conscience. I believe if Mahathir went there to campaign, the BN loss will be even bigger

TUN MAHATHIR'S HYPOCRACY
Whether you realise or not, Tun Mahathir always gives the impression that he dislikes publicity. In his speech at one of his birthday's parties recently, he wants to liken himself as a retired general whereby he would fade away slowly. But "How can I do that when you all keep asking me all the time and inviting me to functions?", he told his audience
Come on Tun, deep inside your heart, you want this all the time especially after you left the pinnacle of power. You had been so used to be in the limelight for more than two decades and it is not easy to adjust. You must be feeling like hell during Abdullah's regime when neither the press nor the TV gave any space nor coverage for you!!. And smartly, as cover up to your predicament, you purposely left UMNO when deep inside, you did not want to do that because you do want to come back! You always do the OPPOSITE of what you want just to confuse people. And true enough, as soon as Pak Lah left and Najib took over, you rejoin UMNO and since then you make yourself to be in the limelight at every opportunity. When there is no issue, you can create one just to draw public attention even criticising the Government to earn such publicity. For you as a Michavilean the ends always justify the means. Your thirst for publicity sometime surpassed that of the Prime Minster or the Deputy Prime Minister.
If you are really sincere to become the retired general as you wish, our advice to you is very simple - just refuse to accept whatever invitation or stop entertaining any request for an interview!! Better still you relinquish your positions in the PM Leadership Foundation and Petronas Advisor to someone else., because you have been leveraging on these two institutions so much. Is that so difficult to do? Its all your decision you know. I believe the PM will be more than happy to accept your resignation! If you dont believe you just try and see whether the PM will ask you to reconsider. I bet my bottom dollar, he will accept your resignation within 24 hours
The fact is you want publicity to serve your agenda. Why pretend otherwise, because that is HYPOCRACY of the highest order. In all fairness people wont mind listening to you once in a while. The fact is that majority of the rakyat had discounted you long time ago, including UMNO although UMNO members still show their respect - just being polite a true reflection of a genuine but not half baked Malay ettiquet. We dont think they welcome you or want you to meddle in their affairs.
And we know, you will continue to solicit help subtlely of cource from your corporate cronies to organise what ever functions you want to keep you in the public limelight. And they would not mind since you have helped them to become tycoons. Few of them were nobody in the corporate world before but through your help they have become your successful cronies To them it is pay back time

TUN MAHATHIR WILL NEVER GET OFF THE RADAR SCREEN
Soon after the DPM's announcement on the PPSMI issue, Tun Mahathir is so quick to give his comments. He is not happy at all and blamed the PM. He is not happy because he is the man who started this policy. He did it on his own, never consult the educationists because he thinks he is not only better than anybody else in this country but he also believes that he is always right all the time. Hence he just cannot stand anything that goes against what he had done. This time he made a mistake. The government acknowledged that and so are the others that matter most
But the above is a moot point. What is more important is that he is in the limelight all the time even more than the PM or the DPM. Why does the Government give so much face, we fail to understand. We dont understand why the DPM has to brief him on this PPSMI issue. He is no longer in the government, unless of course the whole Cabinet is subservient to him which we believe is not. Or is he contemplating of becoming a Minister Mentor like Lee Kuan Yew?
The Tun will continue attacking the Government. This is his STRATEGY and his best line of Defence. He had also said members in the UMNO MKT are corrupt and indirectly saying that the government too is corrupt and again not doing enough to fight corruption
Yes this country since Tun Mahathir became PM had been plagued by corruption NOT BEFORE HIM and we seem helpless to resolve it effectively, with so many obstacles along the way. Sometimes we really wonder who really the pepetrators are because we seem to get into a "vicious circle" everytime we want to pin down corruption especially at high places or involving high profile personalities.
I happen to ask an old government servant who used to serve during the colonial days, how he thinks the government should go about reducing or eliminating corruption in this country given the state we are now. He is also blank BUT he did suggest one thing though which we all should ponder and think seriously. And we believe more so for the powers that be. According to him, based on what he saw happening in Indonesia, we should follow their action whereby they really went all out right to the top to investigate even up to the level of President Suharto. And they succeded. When I asked why, he said as soon as this happened in Indonesia, everyone becomes free and daring to go all out to tell all or to spill the beans. Before they dared not for fear of victimisation especially their safety. But that exists no more when the top man in the country is nabbed. But most important according to him is that it sent out an EFFECTIVE SIGNAL to the Indonesian people that government there means business when it come to corruption. Oh yes I forgot one thing. They also changed the Government.

WHY THE FUSS ABOUT KHIR TOYO NEW MANSION
The New Straits Times and Star's front page carried the picture of Khir Toyo's mansion in Shah Alam. The two papers are closely aligned to UMNO and MCA respectively. Actually no big deal! But for Khir Toyo this may possibly signal his exit.Question is why only pick Khir Toyo. There are so many out there who are like Khir Toyo - living beyond their means, like recently retired government servants, politicians, ADUNs and MP's including Ministers! The public knows who they are BUT they are helpless to do anything. They know they are CORRUPT to live like that.
The newly minted MACC cannot do anything either about these people because no EVIDENCE. Isn't living unbelievably beyond one's means which you can see with your own eyes IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE AND PROOF already?. If the MACC is going to wait for a formal signed report, forget it. No one will want to stick their neck out. Not only you are not protected, what do you get out of it anyway? So the CORRUPT will continue to enjoy because the Authorities are taking the attitude " Si Luncai terjun dengan labu labu nya" BIAR KAN BIARKAN !! Even in the Khir Toyo case, I bet nothing will come out of it. Just look at the "lingam Tape" debacle, until now NOTHING! It shows the Government will tolerate CORRUPTION if the consequences of takling action will bring more problems than benefits!
They dare not put away Ali Rastam BUT they did for Isa Samad, both Menteri Besar. Now we want to see how they will deal withKhir Toyo
The Government cannot go on fooling the people. The present Government must DELIVER what they promised in terms of TRANSPARENCY and INTEGRITY and should never follow Mahathir's "Cakap tak serupa Bikin" The BN and UMNO will suffer in the next election. The Rakyat are no longer stupid. They are now WELL INFORMED fed by the altenative media on information what is happening in the country and what their LEADERS ARE DOING. This is now happening not only in urban areas but the message has spread deep into the kampongs and all parts of rural Malaysia.
Until and unless the Government shows it means business to deal with all the corrupt issues that have been brought by the people in a decisive and resolute manner, and just not doing it selectivly, the government is just digging its own grave and dont be surprised BN may become an opposition party comes the next general election. Change now OR you will be changed. This has been the war cry of UMNO. Prove it

Anwar's SODOMY Trial - A NEW PERSPECTIVE
Anwar may be found guilty. But let us hope that he will not be jailed but fined only. This gives a win win situation to both sides. But what is more important is for Najib to talk terms with Anwar to get rid of Tun Mahathir from the political scene because he is their common "enemy and nuissance" to both of them and "a thorn in the flesh" By disposing him out of the scene both Anwar and Najib can go their seperate ways or even get together because there is no more "dalang" in between
People know that Najib does not like to confront Mahathir if it can be avoided. And people also know that the Tun keeps sending signals to Najib that Anwar is more popular than him and that he is a threat to him as PM. as long as Anwar is around. Mahathir loves to put Anwar back into jail once again and he likes Najib to do that for him.
The Tun is a smart cooky. He is always on the "attack" since he left his premiership. This is his STRATEGY which to him is the most effective line of Defence, a typical communist strategy, for his LEGACY including his siblings. Do we not see what he is after now? A Pas member commented recently that the Tun instead of interfering with the present government should instead concentrate his activities for the "world hereafter" by becoming the "SIAK" or caretaker of the Putrajaya mosque
.
Najib should also tell the NST and Utusan NOT to kautow to Mahathir's whims and fancies. We can see these two newspapers already moving in that direction,at the expense of the current administration and people know that the key senior staff there were at one time working for and very pro the Tun. Dont't forget too that the majorshareholder of Utusan is the Tun's man.
To help rid of him from the political landscape, REVISIT the various Reports made on him to the then ACA, now MACC and the Police by Anwar Ibrahim. Should also seriously consider forming a Royal Commission to examine where Petronas money had been spent during his administration
It is HIGH time that we should learn from the Indonesians! Why are we still so naive, blind and stupid?

WHAT IS TUN MAHATHIR'S COMEBACK AGENDA?
If Tun Mahathir had been quiet during Pak Lah's administration, why is he getting
active again? What is his AGENDA now? Does UMNO really need him to revive the party's reputation when he has been the one who had been responsible to shape UMNO to be what it is to day? People's perception on UMNO and hence its beating in the last general election owed its genesis to his two decades of tutelage. In the last Bukit Gantang byelection a voter's remark was most telling. And UMNO should know this. And this is what the voter said and reported in the alternative media
"I wanted to vote for the BN candidate, but when I saw Dr, Mahathir campaigning for the BN I just decided to do otherwise and vote for Pakatan" See how much damage this man had inflicted on UMNO and yet UMNO members still have the audacity to look upon him as a "saviour" of sort. To all UMNO members, the clarion call is enough is enough. The Tun should be treated like an old "Koran" ie You cannot read it and neither can you throw it away. And that is the best way for UMNO. He knew too well that true Malays will not be "derhaka" or disrespect to their leaders, unlike him. Hence he is just exploiting on this Malay weakness
His agenda is simple. First, he wants his legacy to be preserved at all costs.Nothing should be done to bring out any of his skeletons from his past closet. And people know there are many. His mission is to let the rakyst take the attitude that let bygone be bygones, and Thou shall see no evil and hear no evil. Just remember nothing but all the goods he had done. Second, he wants the power that be to "protect" the business interests of all his siblings that that are publicly known and those held through "proxies" which we believe are huge and extensive. His worries are that the "proxy holders" who gave their "solemn" undertakings to him when he was in power to act as his "custodians" may renegate their words or promises. Particularly when he is no longer around.
Lately, there was a very strong and yet reliable rumour from overseas that some one very close to him bought a HAND BAG studded with diamonds for RM 500,000!! in Paris . No one in the world, except the wife or girfriend of a world reknown professional soccer player in UK has purchased such a hand bag. So the person became the number two in the world who can "afford" to buy such an expensive handbag!! That some one must have lots and lots of money to throw around. Question- where does the money from?? And for that huge amount just for a HAND BAG!! Can you imagine this can happen here in our country, when there are many people who are still living from hand to mouth every day
Relating to the "proxy" issue there was also another strong and reliable rumour that two of his siblings approached the power that be to seek help to compell a proxy holder to return some of the loots to them, because the Proxy holder pretended not to know anything!! as the Malays put it "Buat dak ye" when requested. But they did not get any help. In fact it is not the business of the power that be to GET INVOLVED OR DRAGGED into this sort of undercover activities.
So we hope you can read between the lines why his sudden comeback and why the Tun wants his continuing presence in public. Not for the sake of UMNO nor for the sake of the Nation.

SOME AFTER THOUGHTS ON MR LEE KUAN YEW’S RECENTVISIT TO MALAYSIA
We believe that the remarks made by Tun Mahathir on Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s eight day visit to Malaysia recently may not go well with some people here, although there are others who cheered him for such remarks.
The Tun is well known for his frankness and will call a spade a spade. Although he has left the political scene some years now and was relatively quiet after he left UMNO, he has become active again after rejoining UMNO, getting a lot of publicity both by the main stream mass and electronic media. As a result there is now emerging a pervasive feeling of sort among the public that he is well on the way to becoming very much in the mainstream of the administration and hence indirectly involved in the running of the affairs of the country again.
Such feelings prevail following his comments on current issues and occasional sarcastic remarks (sarcasm is also his trait) at the present leadership and administration. His influence is further strengthened by the fact that the Tun still retains key positions, albeit in advisory capacity in Petronas and Proton.
He has not relinquished his positions including that of the Prime Minister’s Leadership Foundation, which he should under the new Prime Minister.
He should know when his presence is no longer relevant and should not expect the Prime Minister to tell him to do so.
We all appreciate what the Tun had done for this country during his long tenure as Prime Minister, just like what the people of Indonesia did for President Suharto at one time except towards the end of his political career. We believe the Tun means well whenever his views are sought. Indeed he had been very generous with his ideas. Be that as it may we still believe that as an ex Prime Minister his proper role should be more of an elder Statesman and should not in any way try to assume or behave as if one is still at the helm or captain of the ship. To those people who had been closely watching him since 1981 when he assumed the Premiership of the country, they say we may be entering Mahathir II era.
Most if not all ex leaders of countries in the world once “retired” usually do so in the true sprit of the word. Our first Prime Minister YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman did that after he left the Government and so was our third Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn. And most recent our Fifth Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. In his case he even openly declared that once he leaves the Government he will not interfere nor give out any comment on the government and its leadership. Actually this is what should happen to leaders when they were no longer in power. They just leave the scene and give way to the new generation of leaders to manage the country after them. The only exception are those leaders who were ousted by the people or forced out by their own political parties.
We like Singapore and Indonesia have had leaders who remained in power for a long time, at least two decades or more. We hope such a phenomena will not happen again in our country and we believe our neighbors too will wish for the same whereby leaders will not remain too long in power because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Corruption and The Anti Corruption Law
Tun Mahathir in his recent blog which was carried by the Malaysian Insider made a very pointed observation on the Anti Corruption Law in this country when he said “If the government itself is corrupt then corruption cannot be stopped. In fact corruption will spread in every direction and would become a way of life. And at this stage nothing can really be done”.
Previously he made a public apology at a political rally for his past mistakes. This time his observation on corruption is again an admission of sort that his previous administration had been plagued by corruption, in short a corrupt government.
Who could refute the fact that corruption in this country began seriously and became rampant during his administration that lasted for twenty two years?
Who can deny that corruption has permeated into almost all segments of the Malaysian society including our national institutions like the civil service, the Police and the Judiciary?
And who would disagree that to day corruption has become to large extent a way of life in this country ?
There is a famous Chinese saying:
“when a fish rots, it starts form the head and from there it spread to the rest of the body”.
This saying truly described how corruption began and developed in this country during the past two decades.
The pertinent question - is there no one who should take the full responsibility for this social disease that had inflicted the Malaysian society for that long?
Our neighbor Indonesia that went through the same experience, and even longer, is more decisive in dealing with corruption The Rakyat there were so determined to fight corruption from the lowest to the highest level of their societal hierarchy.
They even went to the extent of bringing their late President Suharto and his family members to the courts to face the law and to make them return back what rightly belonged to the Rakyat.
The rakyat knew where it all began and ended!
We should take the Tun’s observations seriously because these must have come from his inner feelings following the various financial scandals that had hit the country during his premiership in the 80’s and 90’s like the BMF, Mamimco, the Bank Negara Forex losses, the CCB, Perwaja that cost the nation billions of ringgit, not to mention the amount of wastage and excesses incurred in development projects implemented through the “direct negotiations” instead of open tender.
Just imagine if these wastage and losses did not take place we could have utilised the money for the development of our people and we could have achieved a developed nation status by now!!
All these must have begun to prick his conscience after seeing how much damage corruption had inflicted on the economy and changed people’s behaviour and values.
And yet, the effects of past corruption have by no means ended as more episodes keep on surfacing all the time even after he left the government. The Maltrade building fiasco, the Port Klang Free Zone debacle , and most recentl the Middle Ring Road scandal to name a few, went back to his time when decisions on these projects were made. And no one can deny that the root cause of all these billion ringgit of mishaps and scandals had been CORRUPTION.
We should support his proposal to amend the laws to protect whistle blowers to fight corruption.
Who knows one day the Rakyat will discover who the Father of Corruption is and be written into our history.
